“Bowl for the Cure” Deemed A Success On Saturday February 16th, the first annual Bowl for the Cure event drew 157 bowlers. Teams from Larimore and Hibbing participated at the Corral Lanes to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the fight against breast cancer. Several organizations and businesses contributed time, funds, food, services and items to help make the event a success. Breast cancer survivors appearing at the event included Connie Paranteau of Brooks and Pam Garmaker of Hibbing. Mary Bischoff of Hibbing, MN State USBC 2007 Hall of Fame Inductee, was there for the day as well. Other special guests included John Bridgeford from Minnesota Relay for Life, Janet Scott from West Polk Relay for Life and Sandy Smith from the American Cancer Society. Trooper Mike Theis, on behalf of the Minnesota State Patrol Troopers Association, presented a check for the Crookston USBC to purchase Frisbees for the Youth League. Crookston Shriner clowns did double duty, bowling and entertaining, for the day. |
