Gloria was a sanctioned AJBC/YABA bowler in 1974 and became a sanctioned Minnesota WBA bowler in 1985. She has been a Certified Lane Inspector since 1995. Gloria has been a delegate to the MWBA Annual Meeting once. She has competed in eleven MWBA Championship Tournaments. Gloria was a member of the Minnesota State Mixed Team Champions in 1993. Her other MWBA accomplishments; *Five time Ladies Central Bowlers Association (LCBA) Champion *Two time Singles Champion at St. Cloud Vilo Lanes Sundial Classic *1999 Vilo Lanes Team Champion with a 3146 scratch score – 3169 handicap score *LCBA Bowler of the year honor for 1995-96 season (three titles won that season.

Gloria has been a member of the St. Paul and Minneapolis WBA for 15 y3ears. She has the following St. Paul WBA titles; *Member of the 1994 City Team Champions (record scratch score 3189 *1995 City Team Champion with a record scratch score 3206 *1999 City Team Scratch Champion with score of 2992. In 2001 Gloria won the All-Events championship (scratch and handicap) with a score of 2081, a State record. In 1996 she won the St. Paul 600 Club Actual and Handicap Championship with a 737 scratch series and the Metro 600 Club Actual Championship. In 1991, Gloria won the Doubles Championship with Dawn Thorkilson in the Minneapolis WBA Tournament with a score of 1320. In 1989 Gloria was a member of the St. Paul Mixed Championship team. Gloria was a ten time St. Paul All City Team member, three time Honorable mention team member and four time "Queen" of the St. Paul bowlers 1990-91, 1994-95, 1995-96, 1996-97.

Gloria has achieved many bowling accomplishments and honors; *WIBC/ABC National record holder for four person mixed team (3 women/1 man) game 982 and 2893 series. *WIBC/ABC National record for one of the highest ever bowled stepladder games, 289 vs. 300 (Poole) at Maplewood Bowl in February 1996 *One of only two Minnesota women bowlers to score a 1900+(1916) at the WIBC Championship Tournament placing sixth place overall (Classic Division) in 1993 in Tucson, AZ *18th place finish at the 1991 WIBC Tournament in Lansing, MI. doubles event (Classic Division) with Dawn Thorkilson *8th place finish for doubles event (Classic Division) at the 1993 WIBC Tournament in Tucson, AZ with Dawn Thorkilson *BPAA U.S. Open 1995 highest Minnesota finish, averaging 204 for 24 games qualifying * 1999 National 700 Club 10th place finish with 693 scratch score in Indianapolis, IN. She has had an average 200 or more for 12 year and awarded the highest St. Paul league average six times. Gloria has had 60 – 700 series.

Gloria is one of a handful of father (Richard Gates)-daughter duos that have both bowled 300 games and one of a few married couples (husband, Steve Suhr) that have both bowled 300 games.
