Meritorious Service
John joined the State Board of Directors in 1971 and organized 6 to 12 tournament teams each year. He served as President in 1991-1992 and is now a Life Member. He was honored in 2001 for 30 years of distinguished service and contributions.
John helped organize and charter the Hawley Bowling Association and organized leagues when the lanes were built in 1961 and continues to assist. He served on the Hawley Bowling Association at different times as President, Vice President, Secretary and Director and managed the local and several invitational tournaments until the association consolidated into the Fargo-Moorhead Association. He served as Hawley's Director on the Fargo-Moorhead Association Board for three years.
John operated a bowling center for two seasons and successfully promoted youth bowling and helped organize the NW traveling league. He was employed for 11 years at various bowling centers and served three years on the NW Proprietors Association Board and assisted in forming a District Proprietors Tournament held at each center.
In 1996, he was selected as the first ABC Jurisdictional Associate in Minnesota assisting Jerry Tessman and continued to assist Sonny Feind until single membership was approved in 2005. He attended multiple ABC Conventions, State Jamborees and ABC Workshops.
