Bruce has been one of the better bowlers in the state. He was inducted into the Minneapolis Bowling Hall of Fame 1984.

He has three 800 series 15 perfect games, four 299 games, two 298 games and over three hundred 700 series.

Bruce has bowled in sanctioned competition for 42 years, with 33 entries into the ABC National Tournament, and 29 entries in the Minnesota State Championships Tournament. He has two championships in the state tournament, both in the Doubles Event is 1981 and 1985. He has two local association titles to his credit, winning a Team Event in 1984 in Minneapolis and an All Events title in 1976 in the Morris County Association in New Jersey.

Starting with wins in the Western Collegiate Match Games in Chicago, Bruce won the Singles in both 1963 and 1964. He has three titles in the Cold Spring Kegle – two team events and one all events in 1968 and 1970. He was part of the winning doubles team in 1972 in the Tri State.

He has six CBA titles to his credit, winning in January 2000 setting the record for the longest duration between wins (21 years plus) and the oldest winner at age 57.

He was a member of the winning team at the Kiel Spiel at Hibbing in 1981 and 1983. He was a member of the winning team at the Hoinke Classic in Cincinnati in 1983. In 1992, he won the Minneapolis Masters Tournament. He won the Minnesota Masters in 1995 and won four Midwest Senior Classic titles in 1995, 1995, 1998, and 1999 (of which he was a co-organizer).

Bruce places first in the PBA Senior Regional in Elgin, IL in 1999 and was the "Senior Bowler of the Year" in 1999 in the PBA Midwest Region.
