Earl, a native of Tacoma, Washington, began his career as a pinboy in the 40's and entered league play at the age of 17. A year later he averaged 207.
In 1956 he helped the Fallstaff's team win the 1956 ABC Team and Team All Events titles. In 1961 he won the Classic singles with a score of 733.
Earl also had the following Tournament titles in Minnesota: Minnesota BA All Events 1972(1924), St. Paul Winter Carnival 1973, Minnesota 700 singles 1974(4 game scores of 985) Central State Association 1975 & 1976, St. Paul BA Team 1975 and St. Paul BA Singles, 1976 (692).
In 1960 Earl won his first PBA title in San Francisco. He won three more titles in 1963 and one more in Madison Wisconsin in 1965.
His other achievements include 2-300 games, 2nd Team BOWLING Magazine All America 1960 and 1961, St. Paul All Star Team 1976.
Earl was inducted into the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame on March 19, 1987 in Niagara Falls, New York.
