Ed was known throughout the Twin City area for his bowling ability in both scratch leagues and tournaments. Ed bowled in the St. Paul City, Twin Cities Classic, St. Paul All Star and other straight away leagues to numerous to mention. Ed averaged 191 in 25 trips to the ABC Tournament, including a second in singles in 1941, second in doubles in 1957 and first team all events in 1957. Bill Hengen was his partner as Minnesota State Doubles Champs in 1942. Ed was Minneapolis Tribune Classic Champion in 1947 and 51. His four-game 957 was an all time record in the Tribune Classic Tournament in 1947.
