Fran Penfield was 66 years old, married to Marie and they had one child. Fran passed away suddenly in May of 1997. He was retired and his employer was the Department of Defense - Army Reserve.

In Cannon Falls, Fran was very active in their bowling association. He was a League Secretary-Treasurer for 15 years and Association President for three years. He also was city association tournament director for 22 years, a bowling proprietor in Cannon Falls for five years and a sanctioned ABC member for 42 years. He was elected to the Cannon Falls Bowling Hall of Fame on May 13th, 1992.

On the state level, Fran became a director in 1966, which is 31 years of service. He was Vice President for two years, became President in 1978 and was elected as a Life Member in 1979. From 1965 to 1987 he organized 20 to 25 teams each year to participate in our State Tournaments. He bowled in 42 state tournaments and four years in the ABC National Tournament.

No matter what committee Fran was asked to serve on he gave 100% of his input to assure everything was accomplished. For the last four years, Fran helped our Executive Director as a member of the Tournament Working Committee.
