Pioneer
Mary has been with her husband, Gary, every step of the way throughout all the accomplishments that have been achieved in bowling since they purchased the bowling lanes in Owatonna thirty years ago.
Mary participated in 25+ National and many State and Local tournaments and was a state delegate throughout the years. She was a member of the National 600 Bowling Club and was very helpful in setting up the Owatonna 600 Club fun tournament every year.
She was in charge of the local YABA for over 25 years. She was the youth league coach. Every Saturday morning she would be at the lanes greeting all the young bowlers helping each one to learn how to hold the ball, the proper approach, the delivery and the rules of the game. She scheduled all their events. She along with chaperones, would drive the youth teams to the Minnesota Youth tournaments.
Mary's true value was to all the local men, women and youth bowlers. She processed the weekly scores for all the leagues. She knew all the schedules and rules for each league. Mary was always ready and willing to help anyone with any questions pertaining to bowling, such as scoring, type of ball to use, approach, delivery etc. She bowled in two leagues with a high average of 175.
Mary was inducted into the Owatonna Hall of Fame in 1999 and will always be remembered as a great friend to all bowlers.
