Leroy began bowling in 1929 and fell in love with the sport. Even though he never became a great bowler, he began promoting the sport of bowling at all levels.

Leroy was Secretary-Treasurer of the Northwest Terminal League for 27 years and was elected to the Minneapolis Bowling Association Board of Directors in 1948. He served on numerous committees on the Minneapolis Board and eventually as president in 63-64.

In 1962 Leroy was elected to the MN State Board and again served on numerous committees and as State Secretary-Treasurer from 1971-76. In 1979 Leroy was elected President of the Minnesota State Association followed by election as Honorary Life Member.

Leroy was inducted in the Minneapolis Hall of Fame in 1983. He owned his own business and sponsored as many as ten bowling teams a year. Leroy was active in three bowling leagues at the time of his death in 1990.
