Dean has worked in all areas of bowling, whether it be National, State or Local.
He served on the original board for the MN State USBC Association and was a member of the Tournament committee. For many years Dean organized teams to participate in the (Men's) Open State Tournament, the National Tournament and the State Youth Tournament.
Dean's greatest accomplishments have been with the youth. He has been a youth coach for 20 years. He formed the SW District High School Conference in 1991, was the High School Coordinator for 15 years and High School coach at New Ulm Public Schools for 13 years. He helped create and run the current format for the MN State High School Tournament in 1995. Dean is an original member of the MN State High School Triad of commissioners. He helped organize and run a Youth Scholarship Pro-Am at Brunswick Eden Prairie in the 90's. He worked the National Family Tournament and helped with the Team USA Trials for the Olympic Trials when they were held in MN.
Dean is a member of the New Ulm Area USBC.
Dean has served as President of BPAM, National Director for BPAA, SW District BPAM President, Secretary and Tournament Director. In 2005 along with 21 other state award winners, he was the first ever recipient for the state of Minnesota to receive the "National Proprieter of the Year" award.
