Gary was the manager at Double Duece Lanes in Mankato 1960-61 and 1963-66. He purchased Fairlanes in Owatonna in 1977 and in 1997 built a new facility. He was league secretary for many leagues in Mankato and Owatonna. In 1978 started a men's traveling league in Owatonna. In 1983 was co-founder of high school bowling in MN. He was also coordinator of State Bowling Proprietors for high school bowling.
Gary, along with the help of Marilyn Flanagan, organized senior bowling at Senior Place in 1988. He started and directed the senior traveling league in 1991. He coached the Owatonna high school bowling team and started the annual "Bowl for Kids Sake" community day in Owatonna in 1988.
In Owatonna he had the highest average in the Men's Assn. of 202 for the years of 1978 thru 1985. His highest game was 299 in 1964 and high average 208 in Mankato.
Southpark Lanes in Owatonna hosted two MWBA State bowling team tournaments in 1998 and 2004. Gary put in many long hours to help make these tournaments a success.
Gary was inducted into the Owatonna Bowling Assn. Hall of Fame in 2001. He wrote information/scores on all bowlers and reported it to the local newspapers for weekly coverage-3 columns/wk in Mankato and 1 column in Owatonna.
