Robert Schabert
St. Paul
1993
Meritorious Service
Bob began his love affair with bowling in 1946. Tournament victories and scoring accomplishments were not to come his way. So his efforts were channeled toward administration within the Associations and his columns in the Pioneer Press, where he worked for over 40 years.
He was elected to the St. Paul Board in 1952 and the State Board in 1955. In 1966-67 he served as State President. He also served as Executive Secretary of the St. Paul. BPA for 25 years.
Schabert was elected President of the Bowling Writers Association of America in 1963, and later served as its secretary from 1965 to 1967. He also won that organizations All-Star Match Game title in 1956.
The Minnesota Bowling Proprietors recognized his efforts with their "Tell 'em So" award in 1959.
Bob was an organizer of the St. Paul Men's and Woman's All City teams in 1956 as well as the St. Paul Bowling Hall of Fame in 1963. He was enshrined in that Hall in 1975.
He continues to be active on the State Board as a Life Member.
